Box of Blocks is a sort of disjointed EP of songs I’ve been toying with off and on for about 2 years now. In the fall of 2005 I got my first copy of Propellerhead’s Reason MIDI software and started playing around with loop-writing. “Dysplasia Ex Machina” is actually a descendent of the very first song I wrote in Reason. The rest of the songs on the EP are the finalized versions of little musical toys I’ve been playing with since then when avoiding some sort of more productive work. With the exception of “Pooh Sticks” which has two sort of similar loops, the other four songs are simply embellishments and variations on a loop. Each one sort of states the loop as a theme, and then toys with it some.
